First ever review and thought it was warranted, given I read many reviews on this resort and wasn't sure myself about booking. The Hotel is a bit dated but you get 5 star service, the staff couldn't do enough for you. Exceptionally well located, sea view was stunning. The hotel beach area is perfect, well staffed comfortable bed/loungers and good food. For what you pay I think overall great hotel.

Good location near the beach

Breakfast is good, rooms are nice, terrace was really big, the indoor pool is nice but can only be used for one hour a day, the outdoor pool is extremely cold and cannot be used at all. The beach facilities and the restaurant at the beach are really nice

Rest and Relaxation in style in the heart of Essaouira

I loved the style and architecture of the hotel blending Moorish and Art Deco details as well as more contemporary features. The main restaurant and the U-shaped pool courtyard as well as the Thalasso pool really stood out by their understated elegance. The morning buffet was outstanding and we really liked having access to the relaxing spa pool for one hour. Service was impeccable. And finally the location across the beach promenade and a short walk to the médina is superb.

Nothing to dislike about this property. Perhaps the only inconvenience is the street parking as opposed to a private parking area but spaces are reserved in front of the hotel and security is there 24/7. The Thalasso treatments are pricy but that’s to be expected in a five-star establishment.

We would come back

Breakfast was incredible. The best I've had at a hotel! The location was fantastic as well and the beach restaurent was lovely. Really great food.

It's a little bit outdated, and the spa pool booking put us off as slots were allocated. The food wait time for room service and the beach bar was super long. Speed of service is not the priority here.

Nice hotel with ocean view but staff could use training

Loved our nice clean room with terrace and ocean view. The hotel’s private beach area is on the ocean across the street from the hotel. Service and food were good at the beach cafe. Nice pool area in the hotel’s inner courtyard.

Breakfast food and waiters were terrible. We had to wait a half hour or so for our room although we arrived after check in time. The worst experience was at checkout when first it took them awhile to figure out our bill, not sure why? We asked for a taxi and instead they called their own more expensive shuttle that was going to take 20-30 minutes to arrive. We did agree to that but saw another available taxi as we waited and got into that. In the meantime, one of the young women at the desk brought out a new invoice because they had made another mistake . Then a slightly older front desk women started arguing with the taxi driver while we waited in the blazing heat!! I was so angry! Instead of concerning herself with providing good customer service, she made sure their more expensive shuttle got the business. Unbelievable.

Very nice room and comfortable bed. Nice pool area and hotel is close to the beach.

Quite expensive compared to other accommodations you can find closeby. Don't go for dinner to the beach restaurant. Food was not good and it was expensive. Staff was very nice and kind but service was not good. There is a private lounge area by the beach but there were not enough umbrellas for each sun bed, so it was not possible to use that area.

Lovely break by the seaside

It’s right in the seafront a short distance away from the Medina. The pool area is super. The Dining Room and lobby are nice and bright and overlook the sea. The staff are absolutely lovely and so helpful.

As good as I remembered it from 8 years ago ...

The location was convenient for both the town and the beach. Good to have a swimming pool available. Very comfortable beds. Balcony overlooking the pool. Safe, fridge and kettle provided. Excellent breakfast buffet with an amazing array of items to choose. M restaurant very good. Very helpful staff on reception, arranged two good excursions for us.

Breakfast service a bit disorganised and slow. Some room maintenance needed eg damaged wardrobe doors, extractor fans in toilet and bathroom not working. Didn't like the insects, lots of ants and some beetles (possibly cockroaches), mainly in the toilet room.

Great location and the facilities are as expected for this price.

We had a dispute over the cost charged for adding an extra night rather than going to Marrakech after the earthquake. The price charged for 1 night was more than the price for the other two nights. The GM blamed it on booking.com (which I don't accept) but did make an effort to off-set some of the cost (not entirely to our satisfaction though). However, the lengthy debate over 3 days detracted from the experience. If not for that, then we would have rated it higher.

Nice hotel with a fairly high standard but has seen better times combining beach and historic city center

Nice hotel with a fairly high standard but has seen better times. Perfect mix between beach right in front of the hotel and beautiful historic town within a 4 minute walk. Great private beach and sun beds with a beach bar. Also nice colonial style bar.

Has seen better times and you see the age. Would not rate it a 5 star hotel anymore. Personell seemed a bit over overwhelmed in particular during breakfast. Regularly one had to wait because things were empty and not refilled.

Excellent stay overall, highly recommend for families with young children

After reading some comments, we were expecting a relatively run down hotel, which was really not the case. Our stay exceeded our expectations, and for several reasons: the hotel itself is really well maintained, and beautiful. The outside pool area is great, with several poolside very comfy sunbeds surrounded by lush vegetation. The pool itself was a bit cold, but on hotter days was really nice. The hotel also has an excellent inside pool that serves as a thalasso space. You can book 1h each day, and the whole family enjoyed it almost on every single day of our stay. We had the buffet breakfast on several occasions, which was plentiful, from continental choices (viennoiseries, bread, cheese, cereals) to local delicacies (e.g. soups, moroccan dishes) as well as crepes. The room was cleaned to a high standard every day, with a very efficient staff. The hotel also has an outside private beach area, which we used almost every day. The staff there was excellent, and made sure we had shade for our little one every single time. Finally, the location is great: it is outside the Medina, but a few minutes walk from it so you get the best of both worlds: access to the busy streets within a few minutes and a few steps away from the beach. Cannot recommend enough, especially for families with young kids!

The communication with the staff via the booking site before arrival was not great. Overall I found the staff outside the reception area incredibly nice (cleaners, beach/pool staff, dining area, guards at the front), while at the reception the staff was quite short. Another thing that bothered us was room service/mini bar checks throughout the day and the evening: the staff kept coming day after day at random hours knocking several times, sometimes opening the door without checking or even if we said several times we didn't need anything. We had a toddler sleeping early at night and during nap times, and several times got awoken by staff just entering our room/keeping knocking while we told them several times not to do so.
